If you experience these symptoms for a prolonged period of time, and feel they are affecting your everyday life or making you feel unwell, speak to your GP. Aches and pains, particularly muscle tension.Using alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs to relax. While stress affects everyone differently, there are common signs and symptoms for you to look out for: However, when it affects your life, health and well-being, it’s important to tackle it as soon as possible. Identifying the signs of stressĮveryone experiences stress. For example, extreme anxiety can make you feel so unwell that you then worry you have a serious physical condition. These feelings can feed on each other and produce physical symptoms, which can make you feel even worse. They may lose their temper more easily, act irrationally or become more verbally or physically aggressive. Some people experience changes in their behaviour. You may have periods of constant worry, racing thoughts, or repeatedly going over the same things in your head. When you are stressed you may have lots of different feelings, including anxiety, irritability or low self-esteem, which can lead you to become withdrawn, indecisive or tearful. Behavioural and emotional effects of stress Over time, the build-up of these chemicals and the changes they produce can be damaging to your health. If you’re stuck in a busy office or on an overcrowded train, you can’t run away, so you can’t use up the chemicals your own body makes to protect you. However, if you’re constantly under stress, these hormones remain in your body, leading to the symptoms of stress. Once the pressure or threat has passed, your stress hormone levels usually return to normal. Humans have inherited these things from our ancient ancestors, who needed to be able to either run away from danger or stay and fight. In the long term, you may be putting yourself at risk of heart attacks and strokes. You may also breathe more quickly, have palpitations or suffer from various aches and pains. Cortisol, another stress hormone, releases fat and sugar into your system to boost your energy.Īs a result, you may experience headaches, muscle tension, pain, nausea, indigestion and dizziness. These hormones can also reduce blood flow to your skin and reduce your stomach activity. This prepares your body for an emergency response. Hormones called adrenaline and noradrenaline raise your blood pressure, increase your heart rate and increase the amount you sweat. This is known as the ‘fight or flight’ response. Symptoms like these are triggered by a rush of stress hormones in your body which, when released, allow you to deal with pressures or threats. Some common symptoms of stress include sleeping problems, sweating, or a change in appetite.

Developed by Lynx Technology, Twonky Media Server provides an efficient solution for organizing, accessing, and enjoying media files such as videos, music, and photos. That default ini file is used (by vendors) to populate vendor specific default entries (like the paths to standard media folders, or to set a custom port, etc basically, anything they want to customise in the above settings list) but anything that you initially entered yourself (custom media paths, or the likes) will be lost and thus have to be manually re-populated via the Twonky web interface. Twonky Media Server is a powerful and versatile media server software that allows users to stream and share their multimedia content across different devices within a network. When it does that, it also adds any pre-set defaults that were stored in a default ini file. When you do that, it looks for that ini file and if it doesn't exist, it re-creates one. That will show you a page message stating something like 'Server restarting' (thus confirming that it has accepted the RPC)Īs that Qnap instruction states, yet another way to remove the password is to simply delete (or if concerned, rename) that entire ini file and restart Twonky. Note 2: If you wish, after changing the ini file you can simply restart Twonky via another rpc option (to save having to access the Twonky web interface): Note 1: If you don't like using vi, another way to edit the file is to copy it to a share, then change permissions (so you can edit it) then use the text editor on you PC to change it, then save it, pop it back where it should be and change the permissions back (not even sure that last part is important it is only a Twonky ini file). So you can now SSH in and navigate to the above file, but rather than just deleting the entire file, you could use vi (or equivalent) to delete just these two entries (well, deleting only the parts to the right of the two = signs, thus ending up looking like my own ones), then re-starting Twonky will force it to read that ini file and thus it should no longer be password protected. So obviously, in my case the file I want to edit (or delete more on that below) is actually /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/TwonkyServerEU/appdata/twonkyserver.ini Inipath=/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/TwonkyServerEU/appdata Twonky Media Server allows users to stream content from any device in the home network.Code: Select all ininame=twonkyserver.ini ![]() With its powerful features and easy-to-use interface, you’ll be up and running in no time. The videos below show pencil grips that we have found to be helpful in a number of cases when working with children who have an immature pencil grasp. Each pencil grip is designed slightly differently and will suit different children. This is because all children are different and have different needs. Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast best option. I recommending considering the following points to check if the pencil grip is helping. It is also important to check that it is helping. You must regularly check whether the grip is being used correctly. It is not ok to just give a child a grip and expect it to work. It is absolutely essential to ensure that you are monitoring the pencil grip. Lastly, for children who have started to hold the pencil with their fingers rather than their whole hand, but who are still struggling to get the correct fingers onto their pencil, a pencil grip can be tried. These grip strategies are all discussed further on our page ‘What Does a Good Pencil Grasp Look Like?’ If the child is holding the pencil with their fingers but their grasp is not mature, you can also try the quadruped and alternate tripod grasp. We discuss them further in the video below. These help the child to improve their finger control and the movement needed to develop their pencil grasp. Helpful supports to use with these children are finger crayons and small pencils. My book ‘Supporting Pencil Grasp Development’ also provides relevant activities and worksheets. This can be done by working on their fine motor skills. These children need more support to develop their hand and finger control. Older children using this grasp have not developed the fine motor skills needed to hold onto their pencil with their fingers. Children initially hold onto their pencil with their whole hand, this is called a gross or palmer pencil grasp. This is also true for children under six who may have developmental delays. They should not be the first strategy that is tried for a child who is having difficulty holding onto their pencil.įor children younger than five it is important is to look at writing utensils that will help to support their finger and hand development first, before giving them a pencil grip. ![]() In my opinion, pencil grips should only be considered for children over the age of five who have received some support to develop their pencil grasp already. As I constantly update the videos, I also recommend that you subscribe to our Youtube channel or join our newsletteror follow our Facebook page so you receive notifications when new videos are released. ![]() All reviews are independent and GriffinOT does not receive payment or endorsements from any companies. It also reviews different pencil grips that are commercially available in the UK. This page provides a discussion on when a pencil grip might be helpful. If you are looking for specific activities and worksheets to help children with their pencil grasp then we also recommend our resource Supporting Pencil Grasp Development. The post also gives ideas on how to help children with a very immature pencil grasp. It provides some ideas on how to help a child to improve the way they hold onto a pencil. This post gives a background to pencil grasp development. If you are not familiar with what a functional pencil grasp might look like then we highly recommend you read our post ‘What is a good pencil grasp?’ before reading on. |
